Protein structural transition


Different proteins react to the expousure of light that indeed may trigger structural relaxation. This has been used in the last 30 years to study how proteins relax to an impulsive perturbation. We are extending this technique to use the x-ray as direct structural probe. The first model systems we are studying are the "tertiary" relaxation of the Myoglobin and the quaternary transition of the human Hemoglobin
